Does Using a Sauna Help Cure Colds? Let's Find Out!

Saunas can't cure colds, but they can provide temporary relief from symptoms like congestion and muscle aches.

The heat helps loosen mucus, while the relaxation and improved circulation might boost your overall comfort.

Remember to stay hydrated, avoid saunas if you have a fever, and keep sessions short. While not a cure, saunas can be a soothing addition to your recovery routine.

How Loud is a Portable Generator?

Approximatively 72 to 80 decibels. There are no regulations as to how generator decibels are studied. It is a hard question to answer but you can often find this information in the product page or on the internet. A quieter version would be an Inverter Generator.

What is the difference between Surge and Running Watts?

Running Wattage: The wattage that the generator is putting out all the time.

Surge wattage: This is the wattage that the generator can actually jump to. It will be able to put out that power for a short period of time (1sec or so). It is for starting items that might have a little bit more power on startup.

What is the difference between clean and dirty power?

Comes down to the total harmonic distinction (THD) it might be listed as. This is the generators variance from 60 hertz. Everything in the US is powered by 60hertz power.

Dirty power means that the power output will vary from 60 by different %. For it to be clean power, we usually want it to be somewhere around 6% or less. This is just as good or better than the power coming out of your home.

This is not as pertinent as you think, unless you are planning to run high end computers or high end electronics.

How Does an Automatic Transfer Switch Work?

The transfer switch is a crucial component of the home backup system. Its main role is to ensure that your home isn't powered by both the utility and the generator simultaneously. When there is a utility power outage, the generator control panel detects this loss and instructs the transfer switch to disconnect from the utility and connect to the generator. This allows the generator to start supplying power to the home.

How is the automatic transfer switch connected to the house/generator?

The setup can differ based on the type of transfer switch and the number of circuits you want to include. For partial home coverage, the transfer switch is set up like a subpanel. The circuits that the generator will power are either transferred into a circuited transfer switch or moved to a subpanel that a non-circuited transfer switch protects. For whole home coverage, the transfer switch is installed between the incoming utility power source and the home’s main distribution panel.

How do I know which transfer switch I need?

To appropriately size a manual transfer switch, ensure it aligns with the capacity of the largest outlet on your generator.

For instance, if the largest outlet on your generator is rated at 30 amps, acquiring a 30-amp transfer switch is necessary to handle the full power load effectively.

If you're considering an Automatic Home Standby Generator, it is recommended to consult with a licensed electrician or installer to select the appropriate transfer switch.

If you are considering a manual transfer switch for your portable generator, you can refer to your local Hardware or Electrical store We advise working with a licensed electrician to accurately select and install the manual transfer switch.
